You’ve got a Facebook profile and perhaps a Facebook page for your business, but you can’t seem to figure out how to get posts from your blog to show in Facebook. This is one of the most unintuitive features of Facebook, but as this tutorial will show, it is a very easy thing to do.
Importing Blogs to Facebook Pages
Step 1 – open your Facebook Page and click the + sign
These used to be called “fan pages” but are now referred to just as “pages.” Clicking the plus sign will bring up an interface to add boxes to your page. We will want to add the “notes” function to our page
Step 2 – add the Notes function to your page
Click on Notes to add this function to your tabs. For now this space will be empty and function only as a placeholder for our blog feed. You will do nothing more with it at this point.
Step 3 – Edit the Notes Function
At this point, return to the home page of your Page (not the Facebook home page). Click Edit in the left hand navigation. That will bring you to the function editor where you can then edit the Notes function (picture 1). Once on the second page click
Step 4 – Import a Blog to Facebook Notes
You are almost there – on the next screen you will see a link to “import your blog” to Facebook. Click that and then enter the web address for your blog.
Here is where you enter the address to start importing:
It will then show you preview like this and ask you to confirm (highlighted in red):
Posts will now show on your Page’s wall and on the Notes tab. Here’s how the Wall will look with your blog imported:
Importing Blogs to Facebook Profiles
Step 1 – Account Tab
It’s a very similar process to adding a blog to your Facebook profile, only there are a few different steps. You start at the Account Tab (see below) and select Application Settings.
Step 2 – Click on Notes
Just like we did with Notes on our Facebook Page, we now click on Notes in the Application Settings list.
Step 3 – Import Blog
The rest of this process is almost identical to what we put above.
- Click Import a Blog
- Enter the URL for the Blog
- On the preview page click “Confirm Import”
Facebook will only let you import 1-blog to your profile using this process, so if you have multiple blogs you will need to choose one of them. 3rd party applications may offer some flexibility here, but they are outside the scope of this post.
Quick Tip: If you are the owner of a Page and have multiple blogs, you should import your primary blog on the Page and then a personal or secondary blog on your Profile notes. The posts from your primary blog will appear on your wall as activity from your page anyway and will be searchable by your connections. Posts from your secondary or personal blog will also show on your wall via notes. This is a quick and easy way to display multiple blogs on a single Facebook profile.
