That's a good comparison to what happens here Darlene, but I think it's something even more cunning than writer's block, or as Steven Pressfield calls it in the War of Art, "the Resistance." See writers have the benefit of time on their side. No one sees their work until they are ready to publish. Writer's block thus becomes a hidden danger for the individual that the end reader may never know about. For bloggers, however, getting stuck or bored with your blog means no posts. No posts means an immediate impact to your entire blog that is felt by readers and the search engines. In my opinion, as you state, the best thing is to keep going, no matter what, while trying to deliver quality in whatever you serve on that "commercial break."

Basically, you are saying the same thing that many experts advise about "writer's block." The important thing, I think, is to WRITE SOMETHING. If one needs to step out of the box for a moment, or just say "hi", what is of importance is to stay in touch with your readers, and to give them s-o-m-e-t-h-i-n-g to keep your name/site at the top of their lists to check out from time to time. Think of it as pausing for a commercial before returning to regularly scheduled broadcasts.
